To ask Gatineau to review the value of your property on the 2027-2029 roll, file the City's review form before May 1, 2027 and pay the fee, which starts at $80. Le Droit and TVA Gatineau both give April 30, 2027 as the last day. A review is about the value on the roll, not about the tax rate.

    What a review costs

The City lists these fees by the value on the roll (By-law 943-2023, as shown on its page on October 28, 2026). They are non-refundable, and the City's page is the place to confirm them before you file.

    Value on the rollReview fee
    Up to $500,000$80
    Over $500,000, up to $2,000,000$325
    Over $2,000,000, up to $5,000,000$574.50
    Over $5,000,000$1,149.25

    The four steps

    1. Complete the form. It is called "Demande de révision à l'égard du rôle d'évaluation foncière" and is available at municipal service centres and on gatineau.ca.
    2. Include the fee. Use a certified cheque or a bank draft. In person you can also pay by cash, credit card or debit.
    3. Attach supporting documents. You can book an appointment with an assessor at evaluation@gatineau.ca or 819 243-5594 (City of Gatineau evaluation service).
    4. Send or deliver the request. By mail to Service de l'évaluation, C.P. 1970, succ. Hull, Gatineau (Québec) J8X 3Y9, or in person at 144 boulevard de l'Hôpital, 4th floor.

    Which deadline applies to you

There are two rules. For a new roll, the request must be filed before May 1 following the roll's entry into force, which means before May 1, 2027 here. If you receive a notice modifying the roll later on, the request must be filed before the 61st day after that notice is sent. Check which kind of notice you have, and note its stated deadline. If you have not yet found your value, start with the lookup guide.

If you disagree with the written response

After your request, the assessor sends a written response. If you still disagree, the City says you can file a request with the Tribunal administratif du Québec (Section des affaires immobilières) or with any Cour du Québec registry, within 60 days of that written response.

What a review does and does not cover

A review looks at the value recorded on the roll. It does not change the tax rate, which the City adopts with its budget; that relationship is explained here. A fee tier says nothing about the outcome, and nobody can promise one. A broker is not an assessor or a lawyer, so Thomas cannot tell you whether a review will succeed. What a broker can do is help you understand what your property may sell for, which is a different question from the roll value: see the municipal assessment vs market value guide.

No. A review concerns the value on the roll. The tax rate is adopted separately by the City with its budget.
