Cantley is a municipality in the MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais, about 15 km north of Hull, along the Gatineau River. Incorporated on January 1, 1989 after being part of Gatineau, it had 11,449 residents at the 2021 census. It's mostly single-family homes on large lots of more than 4,000 m², according to the municipality's urban plan.
A little history
The municipality of Hull-Est was incorporated in 1889 and merged into Gatineau in 1975; Cantley became a separate municipality again on January 1, 1989. According to the Commission de toponymie du Québec, the name most likely comes from a parish in Norfolk, England, where the first settlers came from.

Wells, septic systems and services
The Municipality has no municipal water system: properties are supplied by private wells, and there are more than 4,000 septic systems (only some properties in the Lafontaine area are connected to sewer). Pumping is mandatory every two years for a year-round home and every four years for a seasonal home, and the Municipality recommends testing well water regularly. Garbage, recycling and compost are collected in bins.

Transportation
Transcollines routes 931 and 932 serve Cantley, with connections to STO, and the Municipality has four park-and-rides: Église Sainte-Élisabeth, Les Bâtisseurs (town hall), Mont-Joël and Parc Denis. Route 307 is the main road.
