Municipal taxes compared: Gatineau, Chelsea, Cantley, Val-des-Monts, La Pêche

The rate per $100 alone cannot compare towns because each has a different assessment roll. Cantley’s 2025 roll raised values by about 51% while its rate fell from $0.7838 to $0.5074; Val-des-Monts’ 2024–2026 roll raised values by 59.8%. Compare the dollar amount on the same value, then add school tax, water, sewer, waste and septic fees.

Calculation viewed October 19, 2026: $500,000 ÷ 100 × rate. This is arithmetic, not a bill. The rate years differ; school tax and service fees are excluded. Real assessments and those fees change the result.

Chelsea’s next roll does not yet tell you the next bill

The MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais September 2026 notice announces the 2027–2028–2029 roll, effective January 1, 2027. The median single-family value is $786,300; taxable single-family and chalet values rise by 16.7% on average. Council sets the 2027 rate, which was not published as of October 19, 2026. A higher assessment does not translate directly into a higher bill.

Transfer duties are a separate calculation

Val-des-Monts sets a 3% welcome-tax rate on the part of the price above $500,000 under by-law 957-26: see the welcome tax calculator.
